Double Dipped Strawberries
What's better than a chocolate dipped strawberry? A double-dipped chocolate strawberry! This recipe layers dark chocolate on top of creamy milk chocolate.
Ingredients
- 2 CADBURY DAIRY MILK Chocolate Bars (3.5 oz. each)
- 1 CADBURY ROYAL DARK Chocolate Bar (4 oz.)
- 3 teaspoons shortening (do not use butter, margarine, spread or oil) , divided
- About 2 pints fresh strawberries with stems, rinsed and patted dry
Directions
- 1. Cover tray with wax paper. Remove wrappers from chocolate bars; break into pieces.
- 2. Place milk chocolate pieces and 2 teaspoons shortening in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at MEDIUM an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chocolate is melted and smooth when stirred.
- 3. Holding strawberry at top, dip bottom two-thirds of each berry into milk chocolate mixture; shake gently to remove excess. Place on prepared tray. Refrigerate about 30 minutes.
- 4. Repeat microwave procedure with dark chocolate pieces and remaining 1 teaspoon shortening in clean microwave-safe bowl. Dip lower one third of each berry into dark chocolate mixture. Place on tray; refrigerate until firm. Cover; refrigerate leftover dipped berries. For best results, use within 24 hours. About 2-1/2 dozen dipped strawberries.
- CONVENTIONAL DIRECTIONS: Cover tray with wax paper. Melt chocolate pieces and shortening in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling water; stir until smooth. Remove from heat; prepare, dip and store berries as directed above.
